Their Story

Their Story.

We’re all human. We’re all interconnected. The coffee industry is no different.

In fact, the coffee industry is a perfect example. By the time it reaches your cup, as many as 20 different people from all different walks of life have come together to play their part in creating something special. Done right, coffee has the power to change lives.

We want to bridge the disconnect between bean and cup, between farmer and consumer.

Travelling into the remote villages high up on the slopes of Mt. Elgon, the importance of coffee is clear to see. Amongst the remote nooks and crannies of East Africa’s oldest extinct volcano, decorated by the luscious green splashes of banana tree leaves, farmers go about their business of cultivating some of the best coffee in the world.

We’re doing this to support these farmers. By collaborating with the farmers in methods for growing the highest quality coffee, they also grow to understand the true value of their crop and can avoid exploitative practices that are rife throughout the industry. They have access to a much wider market, and they earn more money for providing higher quality beans - meaning they can support themselves and their families with a proper livelihood  for the long term.

We’re also doing this to support our sister charity, The Uganda School Project. This way, we can engage with our donors and supporters in a new, innovative way. Drinking Mukisa Coffee means you to contribute to our mission, whilst also getting to experience the most delightful Arabica coffee Uganda has to offer, which is as good as any in East Africa. More opportunities for more children to gain a better education.

This is what we do it for. This is not ‘our story’. This is their story. This is Mukisa Coffee.

100% of the profits go to The Uganda School Project.
